Dubai's neighbours have been jealously observing and are now poised to take advantage of the same fundamentals that launched Dubai as a property, business and investment haven. Ras Al Khaimah & Umm Al Quwain in the northern most Emirates have grown rapidly in the last 4 years and have re-invented themselves as economic powerhouse's with multi billion dirham real estate projects and unique investments.
International property specialists are looking to the Northern Emirates as the 'new Dubai' and comparing the prospect of purchasing property here, to that of buying property in Dubai five-ten years ago.
The apartments at Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah are a one-of-a-kind opportunity for early investors to gain a foothold in a fast-emerging market in the Northern Emirates of the UAE
In a promotion that sees one of the biggest cash prizes on offer this Dubai Shopping Festival, Mall of the Emirates is promising to make one lucky shopper a Dirham millionaire.
The Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) runs from January 15th to February 15th, and this stunning offer is open to any shopper who spends AED 350 or more at the malls extensive range of outlets, and enters a grand prize draw.
The mega million is made up of AED 200,000 in vouchers redeemable over a one-year period, and the rest in cash.
Fuad Mansoor Sharaf, Vice President of the Mall of the Emirates, said: DSF is the best time to shop and take advantage of fabulous deals and magnificent bargains. Customers can avail themselves of some excellent deals during the festival - the majority of our 466 stores will have sales over this period and shoppers will be able to take advantage of price cuts on goods ranging from furnishings and fashion to electronics and footwear.
The Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) Group has been a key sponsor for DSF ever since its inception in 1996 and Mall of the Emirates previous participation has won plaudits from the global retail industry. This year, the centre was awarded accolades by picking up the International Council for Shopping Centres silver trophy in the Sales Promotion and Events category, for its innovative Dubai Shopping Festivals Biggest Bargain campaign.
Mall of the Emirates remains a favourite all-year-round one-stop destination for shoppers and visitors seeking world-class retail and leisure opportunities. The landmark mall is home to several exclusive developments; including the largest Harvey Nichols department store in the world, the largest Debenhams outlet in the Middle East and the largest Carrefour hypermarket in Dubai. It is also home to the unique Ski Dubai indoor ski slope; another first in the region.
Jumeirah Beach Residence (also known as JBR) is a 1.7 kilometre (1.06 mile) long, 2 million square metre (22 million square foot) gross floor area waterfront community located against the Persian Gulf in Dubai Marina in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is the largest single phase residential development in the world and contains 40 towers (36 are residential and 4 are hotels) . JBR's capacity is about 10.000 people living in its apartments and hotel rooms.
The developer, Dubai Properties (a subsidiary of Dubai Holding), launched JBR in Augu2002. This 6 billion dirham project was completed in 2007.(Wikipedia)

After the hugely popular Mall of the Emirates mall walking programme that started in 2006, the first indoor mall walking programme specifically designed for kids is being launched for Dubai Summer Surprises from June 11 until August 14.
In partnership with Stride for Life, the mall walks will be a mix of fun and fitness and are open to children of six years and above. Kids must be accompanied by a parent or guardian when registering, and they receive free t-shirts once they become a member.
The supervised programme starts at 8:30am on weekdays, in the sanctity of the cool Mall of the Emirates with a walk leader to motivate, train and educate the children with useful tips and information on how to stay healthy.
In a bid to encourage the mini-marchers, Mall of the Emirates will also reward them with gift vouchers when they reach certain targets.
Fuad Sharaf, Vice President, Mall of the Emirates said, The Mall of the Emirates is the perfect place for the walkers to meet and get their exercise. Its cool, its clean and theres a lot of ground to cover. Besides that, they can also have a look at what the retailers have to offer.
We first thought of a kids walking club when some children turned up with their parents, and a committed group of 16 junior members developed, he added.
With statistics in the UAE showing that around 12 per cent of children are overweight and of those, 22 per cent are susceptible to obesity, the kids mall walking programme is an easy way for parents to ensure their children stay active and healthy during the long summer vacation, and you dont have to spend a dirham.
The Mall Walkers programme was launched in September 2006, with 50 registrations in the first few months. Now over 400 Dubai residents are enthusiastic members, having walked a cumulative distance of over 19,000 kilometres.
To register or know more about the mall walkers or kids mall walkers programme, e-mail Deborah@strideforlife.com or visit any of the customer service desks at Mall of the Emirates.
I love Dubai, do you?

Dubai is located on the Eastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, in the south west corner of the Arabian Gulf. It is extremely well known for its warm hospitality and rich cultural heritage, and the Emirati people are welcoming and generous in their approach to visitors. With year-round sunshine, intriguing deserts, beautiful beaches, luxurious hotels and shopping malls, fascinating heritage attractions and a thriving business community, Dubai receives millions of leisure and business visitors each year from around the world.
The local currency is the dirham, which is pegged at AED 3.67 to 1 US dollar. Dubai is tolerant and cosmopolitan and all visitors are welcome. However, Islam is a way of life in the city, and therefore tourists should adopt a certain level of cultural and religious sensitivity for the duration of their stay.
Dubai Rulers : Since 1833 the reigning Al Maktoum family have ruled Dubai. Under their wise and progressive leadership Dubai has prospered and it is now the business and tourism hub for a region.
Dubai History: Some 800 members of the Bani Yas tribe, led by the Maktoum Family, settled at the mouth of the creek in 1833. The creek was a natural harbour and Dubai soon became a center for the fishing, pearling and sea trade.
Dubai Economy: The past 10 years have witnessed incredible growth throughout all sectors of the Dubai economy. The emirates government is constantly working to improve its commercial transparency and introduce dynamic regulations that aid the formation of small and medium enterprises. Dubais economy is no longer reliant on oil, but is more diversified, relying heavily on trade, services and finance sectors. With its central geographic location between Asian and European markets, Dubai has worked hard to establish itself as an integral part of the global trade mechanism. Its central location has also allowed Dubai to become a popular and accessible tourist destination.
Attractions: Although Dubai is seen as a relatively young destination, it has a fascinating history and a vibrant heritage that offers visitors an intriguing glimpse into Arabian culture. A good place to start exploring the history and heritage of Dubai is the Dubai Museum: it is located inside Al Fahidi Fort, one of Dubais oldest buildings dating back to 1787. There are other museums in Dubai and in surrounding emirates that also offer important insights into the history and growth of the city and of the United Arab Emirates.
Culture & Heritage: Courtesy and hospitality are among the most highly prized of virtues in the Arab world, and visitors will be charmed by the warmth and friendliness of the people. Dubais culture is rooted in Islam, providing a strength and inspiration that touches all aspects of everyday life. Virtually every neighborhood has its own mosque, where the faithful congregate for prayer five times every day. One of the largest and most beautiful mosques is Jumeirah Mosque- a spectacular example of modern Islamic architecture.
Dubai Nature : Dubai, with an area of 3,885 square kilometres, is the second largest emirate in the UAE. Situated on the banks of the Dubai Creek, a natural inlet from the Gulf which divides the city into the Deira district to its north and Bur Dubai on its south.

Ich hoffe es gefällt euch. ;)

Sharjah - A drugs gang responsible for smuggling 202 kilos of heroin into the United Arab Emirates has been uncovered in what the police described as the biggest drugs seizure in the region. Abdullah al-Dukhan, deputy chief of Sharjah police, said the pure heroin seized is estimated at 40 million dirham (10.9 million US dollars).
"The 19-member-gang is from Afghanistan and was based in Sharjah," al-Dukhan said at a press conference on Tuesday, adding that the drugs were found in suitcases in an apartment ready to be sold.
Al-Dukhan said the gang had a food-exporting license and used it for their stay in the UAE. The suspects hid the drugs inside the fuel tanks of trucks and imported privately to the country, and they have recently imported seven trucks and hid the heroin in three of them.
The UAE imposes severe penalties for all drug-related offences. Four years in prison is the usual sentence for possession while trafficking carries the death

Meraas Development, a new real estate developer, has burst on to Dubai's property stage with the announcement of its first-ever project worth a staggering Dh350 billion and involving one of the world's tallest buildings - with varied microclimates and a mini-Manhattan.
Jumeirah Gardens will be a fully integrated, mixed-use development project located in the old Satwa area west of Sheikh Zayed Road and flanked by Al Diyafa Street and Safa Park. The project aims to cater to a population of 50,000 to 60,000 residents.
The announcement comes amid a global market crash that has shattered investor confidence worldwide, but goes on to show that Dubai is determined to continue with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The development will redefine living in one of the most popular neighbourhoods of Dubai, currently undergoing demolition to pave the way for the new project.
The project will comprise seven distinct areas, taking up approximately 110 million square feet of land, including the islands. One section will host Dubai Park, which will be half the size of Safa Park.
Phase one of Jumeirah Gardens will cover around 820,000 square metres. It will comprise six main blocks of high-, mid- and low-rise office, retail and residential buildings, two hotels and a high-end shopping area.
Handover of phase one is expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2011, and completion is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2013.
"Every great city has a great park. London has its Hyde Park, New York has its Central Park. This will be Dubai Park," Sina Al Kazim, chief executive of Meraas Development, told Gulf News. The park will be surrounded on all sides by residential apartments, duplexes, penthouses, villas and commercial buildings.
Meraas is planning at least eight landmark buildings in Jumeirah Gardens, including One Dubai, One Park Avenue and Park Gate, which will have six buildings.
The islands will be made up of East Bay and Coastal, predominantly residential, but will also include hotels and resorts. Gulf News

The United Arab Emirates, or UAE, lies in the heart of the Arabian Gulf. A federation of 7 neighbouring emirates, the UAE was formed in 1971, after the British pulled out of ruling the area. Today, the country has an open economy, and its currency, the Dirham, is stable. Foreign direct investment into the Arabian Gulf is booming, and fantastic development plans are being laid. Dubai is like no other place on earth. A city of new-found power and brash energy, where construction sites fill the air with the dust of opportunity and skyscrapers pierce the sky like exclamation points, it is a physical manifestation of what Arabs can do when given the chance to excel. A place so rich and ambitious it is redefining a new Arabia. Truly, a Middle Eastern success story. The capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, has long lain in the shadow of its glamorous, more famous sister-city of Dubai. The largest, the richest and the most heavily populated emirate is Abu Dhabi. It accounts for over 60% of the UAE's GDP, with enough oil reserves to last another century. All this success would not have been possible without the vision of the late President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who was the driving force behind the creation of the UAE. Pouring oil revenues into better infrastructure, health services, and education, he improved the lives of his people.
